Statement
2020 is destined to be an unforgettable year. In this year, many people around the world have experienced long-term self-isolation at home, which is rare in history. However, if anyone tells everything that will happen in 2020 even at the end of 2019, I am afraid that no one in the world will believe it. But the reality is that this seemingly absurd thing does happen, and when it comes to this virus, no one can stay out of it, regardless of identity, age, and race. Maybe we must admit that human society is much weaker than we think. We are accustomed to the feeling of being in charge of the environment, but the fact is that we are insignificant side compared to the nature, and it is clear that most people have not shown enough respect for the world. Because of this, it may be time to reflect on ourselves before it too late. From individual to group and even the entire society, do we care too much about ourselves and too little attention to what is happening around us? Not only the environment around us, but also the creatures, nature, and climate far away from human settlements. These days Covid-19 has caused such severe losses us. What about next time, will there be other diseases, or will it be pollution, war or natural disasters?
The project would be going to discuss the above problems through photography. Time is one of the objective variables we are familiar with in our daily lives. In some way, this kind of objectiveness can also be understood as ruthless. For life, the end of time is not completely over, so in this project I tend to use the word expiry instead of death. Just like food, expiry does not mean disappearance but some changes in the form of existence. And in the visual effect of this project, the word extinction is more conspicuous in comparison. The photos in these pictures are all common animals in ordinary life. The project uses skeleton as a metaphor, creature is beautiful, but it is also fragile at the same time. And the use of these skeletons which is from the common animal in daily life is not only I hope it will resonate with viewers easier. This is actually to show that if they are even extinct, then humans may be only one step away from that step. In addition, I placed these skeletons back where these animals would appear in ordinary life to strengthen the connection between the pictures and real life.
